The West Memphis Three

I just read today that the three boys, now men, who were accused of murdering three boy scouts were released.  I vaguely remember the 1993 reports about Gothic, Satanic worshiper hoodlums being charged for the murders but did nothing to follow it up.  Today, Friday, August 19, 2011, they've been released.  It was the testimony of Jason Baldwin that I found disturbing, to see how this kid could be railroaded by the cops, the lawyers, the DA, the courts and the press who publish the added insults to these boys and their families that these boys were heinous murderers.  The murders took place on May 5, 1993.

Damien Echols reported that while in prison on death row that because of his accusation and "conviction" of being a child murderer and mutilator, that he was "raped repeatedly for over a year.  He filed a lawsuit against the prison authorities alleging they did nothing to stop the attacks" (HBO documentary, Paradise Lost).

Brent Turvey was one of the profilers on the case.  And here is his interpretation of the evidence in the HBO documentary Paradise Lost.

Who done it?  Mark Byers.
Here is what Wikipedia has on the case.  Important to know is that Mark Byers is also suspected of murdering his own wife.

I don't recommend this to anyone.  The stories and the graphic images are traumatizing; however, if you have resolve and never experienced abuse you might be able to endure watching and listening to this heinous crime.  HBO did a documentary that is in 2 parts.  Part I of The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills is here; here is Part II.

Here is a little history on Mark Byers, Chris's step-father.
